As an international metropolis, Shanghai plays a leading role in the development of China’s and the world’s culture and entertainment. Music, an important part of culture and entertainment industry, has significant influence in strengthening cultural communication between Eastern and Western countries. As the Internet and telecommunication technologies rapidly develop, the music business is experiencing a revolutionary change including the growth of digital music, and at the same time, the birth of the TMT (telecommunications, media and technology) industry. Beyond the traditional ends like artists, records, media, etc., the music business is extending into the diversified world of new media, requiring digital music, the Internet and information. How to strengthen Eastern and Western communication, develop original music, protect intellectual copyrights and promote integrated marketing of music and brands in this new environment have become common-concerned questions and issues for people in the music business.
In looking for the answers to the above questions, and with the support of related departments of the Chinese government such as: the General Administration of Press & Publication, the Ministry of Culture, China Audio-Video Association, etc., the International Creative Industries Summit (ICIS), in which Chinese authorities, music business professionals from both China and Western countries and other guests from related industries take part, is being held by Shanghai Oriental Huiwen Int’l Cultural Service Trading Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Synergy Culture & Entertainment Group, and is organized by a-Peer Synergy Shanghai Culture & Technology Co., Ltd.
As the opening ceremony of Asian Music Festival 2009, ICIS will invite distinguished guests from the Chinese government, music labels, the media and other relevant industries to Shanghai. An important part of Shanghai World EXPO 2010, this Summit will showcase China’s future direction for creative industries to the world, help integrate Asian music with Western music, and make Shanghai the new focus of the global music business. |
